Rev. Bruce Lethbridge has been Pastor of Orcutt Presbyterian Church since October 1996. He is a graduate of Westmont College and Fuller Theological Seminary. He has a deep love for teaching the Scriptures and a passion for people coming to know the living God who is revealed to us in Jesus Christ.
"The love of God has reached out to the world in the gift of Jesus. We as his disciples are committed to growing more like him in thought, word, and action. My hope is that we can all discover that the church is not primarily a place you go, but rather the people we are, people who has been called by God's grace into a new life, and a new community. It is my privilege and joy to lead others into this discovery."
Israel calls himself a "presbycostal" since he was raised in a bilingual Assemblies of God church, Centro Evangelistico in Oxnard, CA. He received his undergraduate degree in Church Ministry with an emphasis on Evangelism from Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, OK where he met his lovely wife, Ada (aka Eunice), while she earned her degree in Christian Education. They were married in 1996, moved to California in 1997, and began raising a family. Ada is a medical social worker at Marian Hospital and received her MSW from Cal State Northridge in 2013.
Israel served as Youth Director at Wesminster Presbyterian Church where he was mentored by Rev. Dr. Tim Fearer and encouraged by the congregation to continue his Master of Divinity studies at Fuller Theological Seminary. Upon completion of his seminary studies in 2005, Israel became the designated pastor of New Covenant Presbyterian Church which later united with First Presbyterian Church under his leadership. He enjoyed serving as a catalyst for reconciliation and renewal even all the way through selling the property to the Salvation Army and setting aside the funds for new church development.
He has been serving at OPC since February of 2012, and he loves to mentor students, preach and teach the Scriptures, cook, and play chess. He serves on the board for "Serve Santa Maria," the Pastors' Network of the Santa Maria Valley, Casa of Hope ( a new faith-based non profit that is working toward establishing a Safe House for trafficked women), and at the presbytery level (church planting). He also loves to volunteer at our local juvenile hall through CareNet. and serves as the chaplain for Hardy Diagnostics.
Director of Children & Family MInistry
We're thrilled to have Jenn on our team. She started working at OPC since October 1, 2017. She has been a Christian since she was a child, living in foster homes. She learned at a young age the importance and value of leaning on God, learning about Him, and following His lead.
The kids call her “M.J” (short for Miss Jenn!), and she is a firm believer that children belong in the church family. Jenn graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Science from Concordia University, Irvine with minors in Cross-Cultural Studies and Sociology. Jenn has always valued the importance of faith, family, prayer and togetherness. She promotes a Bible-based curriculum.
Jenn is a cheerleader for children and leads our children’s programs including Sunday School, Joyful Noise Children’s Choir, Movies and Ministry nights, our Kids for Christ (KFC) group, yearly caroling and family events as well as summer Vacation Bible School programs. Her hopes for the children are that they have the opportunity to develop faith that “sticks”, friendships that last, confidence based on who they are in Christ, and a growing awareness of their value and place in God's world. Jenn is married with two beautiful children.
Commissioned Lay Pastor
Garry began his staff assignment at Orcutt Pres in February 2004. As an Elder, he completed the required educational and presbytery criteria for a Commissioned Lay Pastor in 2003. As a CLP, Garry's primary areas of responsibility are Pastoral Care and Office Administration though you may see him involved in almost any aspect of the church's ministry.
Garry was born in Arkansas and moved to California's Sacramento Valley in 1964. After graduation from Roseville High School (where he met his wife Sherry) and Sierra Jr. College, he completed his education at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. He worked in Business Management for 31 years before his current staff assignment. He has lived in the Santa Maria Valley for over 35 years and can't think of a better place to sojourn. He has been married 45 years to his wife Sherry and those two grown children (Brian and Tracy) are his too.
Commissioned Lay Pastor
Mike is a longtime elder who graduated from the Lay Leader Training Institute in 2014. In October 2017, he was set apart for service as a Commissioned Lay Pastor at OPC. His duties include pastoral care, preaching, and teaching.
Mike was born and raised in Santa Maria. In 2010 he retired from a career in Law Enforcement. Mike and his wife Kay, a retired Social Worker who currently serves as a Deacon at OPC, live in Santa Maria and have two grown sons. Mike is a huge Chicago Cubs fan, enjoys golf, and has a passion for serving the Lord!
Cindy grew up in Santa Maria, and is the voice over the phone, the smile you see when you walk into the office, and the minister who prays and helps so many in our church and community. She has served in this position for over 10 years.
Chancel Choir Director
Meredith filled in as our interim choir director but we sooned realized that the "interim" part of her title needed to go! She is such a blessing to us as has re-energized the choir with her creativity, passion, and love for the Lord. You might also see her at Righetti High School where she works as a Guidance Secretary.
My earliest music memories are of hearing my father’s quartet practicing. “Daddy sang bass.” I began piano lessons at the age of 4 , and was playing the hymns for church by the age of 8; singing, accompanying choirs and other musicians from the age of 15. In college I took nursing, earning both BS and MS degrees; then teaching nursing as well as other positions in the health field. I have two children and three grandchildren.
Since retiring from nursing I have been an active musician as well as teaching piano for several years. In addition to music I have had a special interest and study in both natural health remedies and Bible prophecy. In late July of 2013 the Lord clearly directed my way to the position of organist at Orcutt Pres. Having grown up with church music I find playing for the Heritage service especially enjoyable. Thank you OPC for such a gracious welcome.
Julie and her family have attended OPC for over 20 years. Julie really enjoys serving as the OPC Wedding Coordinator as it has given her the opportunity to work outside of her house in a church position. For nearly 20 years, she has assisted and attended almost all of the nuptials at our OPC campus.
If you're interested in having your wedding at our campus, please call or swing by our office and we'll explain our process and policies. Julie is here to help make your wedding an extra special day.
